Ethiopian Adoption

peeking into the future

>> Saturday, July 26, 2008

So, you may be wondering what is happening with adoption #2. Well, we are too! ha! Just kidding.

We had originally thought we would go back to get a baby girl in 6 to 9 months after getting Joseph. Well, we're still going back to get a baby girl, but our time line is getting pushed back a little. We have some paperwork to get in, of course. We were disappointed to learn yesterday that the social worker needs to fly out here to do another home visit. He wasn't going to need to do this, but since we moved he needs to come see our new place.

In the mean time we are peeking into the future and dreaming about our little girl. We are loving our time with Joseph. He's learning and growing so much. He's such a joy to us. :)

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have actually been updating our family blog more and I'm almost ready to turn this blog back into what it was supposed to be for....adoption blogging.... more to come soon.

We've been busy lately. We moved to a new city, new apartment. We're settled in and we're finding our way around. Needless to say....it's been a big adjustment.

We always try to find time for couch time! Once in a while Joseph will sit with me on my lap to watch some Baby Einstein. He doesn't just sit and watch TV on his own, but he loves to watch it when he's sitting in my lap. :) Gotta love it!!

4th of July

>> Friday, July 4, 2008

We want to wish you a happy 4th of July from the other side of the world. We are feeling pretty festive in our USA shirts!

We're thankful that we are all three Americans. We found that just having an American passport is such a privilege. We won't be seeing any fireworks today. We plan on picking up some KFC and going to the beach...just a regular Friday in the Arab world!! :)

We have had fun playing Peek-A-Boo with Joseph lately! He covers his eyes with his hands and then open his hands up and we say, "peek-a-boo!" He smiles real big when we do it!!!
He also still likes it when we ask, "how big is Joseph?" He holds his hands up....so cute!!

Here's a video of Joseph showing how big he is:

Jumping Joseph

Joseph loves being in his "Johnny Jump up!" At first he could barely sit in it without bumping his head on the wall. Now he has total control. He jumps so well, he even gets air sometimes!! We love to watch him! Come on over any time to watch the jumping baby!! Why watch the TV?

We have been having fun with friends lately. Here's a picture of Joseph with Josiah & Layla. They're pretty cute together!!!

Joseph & Josiah were eating the same baby food.

We've been in and out of the car a lot lately. Here's Joseph taking one of his naps in the car. Isn't he sweet??

This is another time when we were in the car. I was tickling him and he was laughing so hard. He's such a fun boy! I thought it was a great picture because you can see the results of all his teething lately...5 teeth in all and more on the way!!

I'm almost all caught up with posting. We are finally feeling a little normal. We've been busy catching up with people. It's been fun, but busy. We have finally turned our days and nights around. Joseph is sleeping 10 - 12 hours a night!! yay!!!!!!!

Joseph hasn't been into books a whole lot, but we keep trying. Kinda sad for someone who has a masters degree in Elementary Reading a Literacy! When he's in the mood to read, we take advantage of it!!

We went to some friends' house tonight and enjoyed playing games and speaking Arabic!! It was so funny....we were talking about how we describe animal sounds differently in the two languages. For example in English we say that dogs say, "ruff, ruff," but in Arabic we say, "how, how!!" We had a good time laughing about this!!!

These Arab friends have a swing in their hallway, which Joseph loved!!! It was his first time in a swing!!!!

Behind us you can see that our friend is burning incense and making the room smell nice! We love to burn Frankincense...it's one of our favorites!
