Ethiopian Adoption

thinking about girl things

>> Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Today I was in the toy store and I saw the cutest little doll. I can't wait to buy little girl toys. I know that I have to wait until my baby girl is old enough to play with them. Anyway, this was an Arab doll. She has an Abaaya and Sheilah that she wears just like the local Gulf Arabs! She's beautiful.

I am sooooo ready for a little girl. I almost didn't let Little Raylee go home the other night. I loved how she just slept in my arms. Okay...yullah! bring on the referral!!!!!!

Joseph loves babies too. He always wants to give any baby a big kiss! The other night we went to visit some friends who have triplet baby girls who are about 8 months old. He was in heaven. So was I! :)

Waiting for "The Call"

>> Friday, April 24, 2009

Well, we are a little jumpy these days. We're on pins and needles. Every time the phone rings we think, "maybe this is The Call!" It's sort of wearing on us. Please pray that we will get our referral soon. We're waiting for a picture of a baby girl along with any other information they may have like medical tests etc...

Don't worry about Joseph. He's totally relaxed. He's just enjoying the ride! :)

Happy Ethiopian Easter!!

>> Sunday, April 19, 2009

Ethiopia celebrates Easter on a different day than America does. I believe it's because they follow the Orthodox calendar. They do a lot of things differently! Anyway, we hope that you are having a very nice Ethiopian Easter today!!!

Shhh!

>> Thursday, April 16, 2009

We are teaching Joseph how to just sit quietly in a chair. I recently talked to a lady who has done this with her six children. She told me what she does, so I've been trying it out on Jojo. She said, "you'll be amazed!" and I am! Joseph is learning how to sit quietly and it's already been a blessing in several situations.

Of course, he's not perfect at it so we have to practice regularly. If we don't practice, he forgets. We sit him in a chair, any chair that we'd like him to sit in. Then we tell him that he needs to sit quietly and we say, "shh." Then he sits. He watches us and looks around. He sits quietly. He never really knows how long he's going to sit there...so he waits. When he's finished we celebrate that he sat quietly. We say, "well done!" His eyes get bright and he starts clapping. He wants lots of hugs and kisses to celebrate! He loves the celebration!!!!!!! And so do we!

Right now I feel like the Lord is doing the same thing for us. He is helping us to practice the discipline of waiting quietly. It's not that we haven't waited on Him before. It's just that we need to practice or we'll forget. Lately it's as if He is saying, "sit here quietly and wait for me." He sits us down where He wants us to sit. We are watching Him work in our lives as we wait. We don't know how long we'll be waiting for our little girl...so we wait. But we know that when the wait is over there will be a great celebration!! There will be lots of kisses and hugs for her! We just hope that when we're finished waiting He will say to us, "well done!"

Here's a few pictures of Joseph sitting quietly.

Here's a picture of me typing this post with Joseph on my lap. :)

Just another Friday

>> Friday, April 3, 2009

Have we mentioned that we love Ethiopians? We met an Ethiopian family at a church. They have five beautiful kiddos. Today Joseph didn't want to go to Friday School. I held him for a while and then the father in the Ethiopian family offered to hold him. Joseph fell right to sleep. Obviously he likes Ethiopians too. ;)

After church we went to the mall. Joseph is learning to smile at the camera.

In case you're wondering about our little girl. We are too! :) We don't have any new information. Last we heard, the agency said, "shouldn't be too long." What?!? What does that mean? So, we keep praying for her. We are praying for Faith...We're asking God to give us faith to believe that He will work this out in His perfect way. :)
